Please note: Space is limited to approximately 50 participants. While all are welcome to apply, priority will be given to applicants based in New York State, especially those seeking careers in the region’s growing battery and manufacturing industries.

As the demand for mobile electrical solutions, grid integration of batteries, and domestic battery manufacturing continues to rise, the need for skilled professionals in the battery industry is growing exponentially. Our Battery Technician Program offers courses designed to provide a solid foundation in battery technologies, storage systems, and their diverse applications, enhancing your expertise and employability in this growing field.

This course is currently available at no cost to participants for a limited time due to EDA grant funding.
Learning Outcomes:
- Examine the electrochemical and mechanical perspectives of what a battery is and how it works.
- Evaluate battery technologies for various applications based on technical characteristics.
- Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of the currently most used battery technologies.
- Safely handle, test, repair, and dispose of battery systems, according to legal frameworks.

Program format:
This online learning experience provides you with seven courses sequentially ordered, each course includes interactive content lessons, virtual instructor-led video lectures, a downloadable learning guide, non-graded practice questions and a final graded assessment to test your understanding of the material covered in this course. You will earn course badges as you complete each section, leading up to the full program badge if you earn all seven course badges in the sequence.
This limited cohort provides all the same Battery Technician training coursework, but also provides you with access to an instructor offering weekly online video lectures and personalized one on one support to help you reach your goals in this program. You will work through one course a week with the rest of the cohort, interacting and engaging with them through discussions.
Prerequisites:
There are no strict prerequisities to enroll in this program, but to get the most out of the learning we suggest some previous familiarity in the following topics:
- Basic comprehension of renewable energy sources and technologies.
- Interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and technological advancements in the energy sector is beneficial.
- Basic high school chemistry and introductory physics.
