About this course:

This is the fourth course in the Battery Technician Program.

In this course, you will gain an understanding of the battery policies and regulations currently in the U.S. regarding their testing, safety, and security. You will complete lessons on specific policies, regulations and International standards, and safety and security measures for stationary energy storage and electric vehicles (EVs).

*This course is available at no cost to participants for a limited time due to EDA grant funding.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Identify the current battery-related policy mechanisms.

  • Recall common battery regulations and the International Standards of battery testing procedures.

  • Recognize battery safety and security functions in stationary energy storage systems or electric vehicles.

  • Recall the working principles of functional safety standards.

  • Identify the challenges of defining standards for BMS and the potential solutions.
